Senior leaders do not get second chances with the media. Preparation matters. Private markets firms are under constant scrutiny. Performance, fees, governance, climate claims and culture. Much of this now plays out in public, often in compressed moments.
Burway works with senior leaders who need to handle these moments properly. That might be during a fundraise, a sensitive transaction, regulatory attention, activist interest, or a public moment that can either reinforce credibility or undermine it.
The focus is practical preparation. We help leaders understand how journalists really work, how questions are likely to be framed, and how to respond clearly while making the most of the opportunity in front of them.
WHO RUNS THE SESSIONS
The programme is led by Roger Fisk, a veteran of five presidential campaigns, who prepared Barack Obama and senior US officials for high-pressure media appearances, alongside John Thompson, Founder and Managing Partner of Burway, who has coached some of the most senior figures across private markets.
Roger brings experience from live, adversarial political environments where attention is scarce and moments matter. John brings two decades advising private equity, private credit and infrastructure firms on how they present themselves to LPs, media and other stakeholders.
The sessions are shaped by how private markets actually operate, not by abstract theory.
WHAT WE DO
Print media training
Preparation for interviews and background briefings. We focus on how stories are constructed, how quotes are used, and how to land key messages while answering directly. Sessions include mock interviews and immediate feedback.
Broadcast media training
On-camera preparation covering tone, pace and clarity. Leaders practise delivering short, defensible answers and dealing with interruptions or aggressive questioning. Sessions include recorded simulations and review.
High-stakes executive sessions
Intensive preparation for moments where the risk and the opportunity are both elevated. The content is tailored to the specific situation and likely lines of questioning.

Delivery is built around senior schedules.
• Remote sessions for print and broadcast fundamentals
• Hybrid delivery combining remote preparation with in-person rehearsal
• In-person sessions in the UK and Europe, with US and international delivery by arrangement
